Dungeon Settlers Mods - Official Status, Toolkit & Risks
Dungeon Settlers mods have two different answers in the current v0.4.23 context. Official mod support and Steam Workshop are still described as planned work, while a separate Nexus listing documents an unofficial Settler Toolkit tested with v0.4.19 on Windows x64. Treat the toolkit as a third-party risk reference, not as an official feature, required progression step, or guaranteed future-compatible install.

FAQ
Does Dungeon Settlers have official mods or Steam Workshop now?
No live official installation path is confirmed in the current v0.4.23 evidence. The Steam store and Early Access roadmap describe modding support and Steam Workshop integration as planned work, without a release date, supported mod types, or live Workshop catalog.
What is Tic’s Settler Toolkit?
It is an unofficial Nexus Mods utility whose listing says it was tested with Dungeon Settlers v0.4.19 Early Access on Windows x64 using BepInEx 6 IL2CPP. It describes edits to settlers, traits, inventory, gold, and game speed; it is not endorsed by the developer.
Is a third-party toolkit the same as official mod support?
No. A community loader or utility can work around the game, but it does not establish an official Mod API, Workshop support, multiplayer compatibility, save safety, or future version support.
Can I customize a portrait without a mod?
The current v0.4.19 update adds built-in locks for portrait and other character elements during Expedition Founding. That preserves a generated candidate element; it is not a custom portrait or sprite editor.
The short answer: official support is still planned
Use the official Steam store and dated Early Access announcements for the status of Mod support. They describe modding support, including Steam Workshop integration, as future work. The current evidence does not provide a live Workshop catalog, an official Mod API, a supported mod list, or official installation steps.
The v0.4.19 character locks are already in the game, but they are native recruitment controls. If your goal is to keep a generated portrait or trait while selecting Recruit Again, use those built-in options instead of assuming you need a mod.
What the current community toolkit listing says
Tic’s Settler Toolkit is presented on Nexus Mods as an in-game utility. Its description lists editing settlers, generated ability attributes, major and sub traits, inventory, settlement gold, and game speed. The page identifies BepInEx 6 IL2CPP as the loader context and names a tested BepInEx build.
That makes the page useful for answering “what community tool is being discussed?” It does not make the tool official or prove that every listed function works across saves, operating systems, difficulty modes, or later patches. The tool page also carries an unofficial-use warning and a virus-scan result showing “Some suspicious files.”
Decide whether the tool is appropriate for your save
If you want a normal Early Access run, stay with the native Recruit and Portrait Lock controls. The toolkit changes values that affect progression and economy, so it can make a save difficult to interpret and can undermine any claim that a build or character result was achieved in the unmodified game.
If you are evaluating a third-party tool for testing, accessibility, or a private sandbox, treat the Nexus page as the only current identity and compatibility reference: open the author’s page, read the current warnings, scan files yourself, and make a separate backup before changing anything. Do not redistribute the files or assume that a later game update will preserve compatibility.
There is no evidence here for macOS support, multiplayer support, safe cross-version saves, or a stable public API. Keep each of those claims unknown until the official game or the tool author documents them for the build you are using.
What to do after a version mismatch
1. Stop loading your only save with the tool active. 2. Restore the separate backup and record the game build, loader version, tool version, and symptom. 3. Disable the third-party files and reproduce the same action in an unmodified save. 4. Compare the result with the current official update notes. 5. If the base game works without the tool, treat the issue as a community compatibility problem and wait for the author or a version-matched release.
Do not “fix” a broken save by adding another editor or changing gold, traits, or character values blindly. That creates a second unknown and makes it harder to tell whether the original problem came from the game, the loader, or the tool.
What this page will and will not claim
This page can report the official Mod/Workshop status, identify a currently visible third-party listing, and show its stated version boundary and risks. It will not turn a player discussion into an official feature, call a community utility safe, publish an unverified install recipe, or present edited characters and gold as a normal gameplay strategy.
When the official roadmap changes to a released Mod system, update the official section first. When the toolkit author posts a new compatibility version, update the third-party snapshot separately. Keeping those two timelines independent prevents a community tool from making the official roadmap look more complete than it is.

Version note: This page links to a community mod listing for identification and compatibility context. It does not mirror files, recommend cheats, or promise that the tool is safe or compatible after an Early Access update.
What the current community toolkit listing says: Nexus listing observed Sep 11, 2026: mod version 1.0.0; tested with v0.4.19 Early Access on Windows x64. This is a listing claim, not an independent game test.
